Sunday Funday

You may have heard me (read me) complain about JJ’s reptile lust. They recently started volunteering at our favorite fish and reptile store. This will, I hope, prepare them to enter the workforce this summer. Although I personally think 15 is a little too young to have a job, many of JJ’s peers starting working at the age of 14. WHY?

Here’s why. They are all saving for a trip to Italy in the summer of 2025. It’s not cheap, and these teens are expected to pay for half of it. Frankly, I’m not sure how I’m going to come up with the $ for my parental contribution.

In any case, while volunteering at the pet store, JJ feel in love with a baby California King snake a few months ago, and he is coming home today.

People ask if I like snakes. I do not care about them one way or another. They do not scare me, nor do they interest me. I am, however, glad that JJ has an interest that keeps them out of trouble. You remember what it was like to be fifteen!

By the way, the love of reptiles is supposedly popular among nonbinary folks. The 22 year old, recent college grad, AFAB (assigned female at birth) kid of a friend of mine informed me that this was the case.

If you start to pay attention, you’ll see there are trans and nonbinary everywhere you go.
