Saturday's Douchebag [Company] You Should Know About: Target
Way before JJ came out, I loved to shop at Target during Pride Month. I remember picking up a bunch of Pride-themed drinking glasses simply because I liked them. Maybe I was trying to express my allyship?
When my then-husband (don’t ask) saw them, he was confused. “But we’re not gay.”
Well, maybe we are.

Okay, so I just simply loved that you could go to Target and get all kinds of awesome LGBTQ+ clothing and swag. It felt happy and comfy and great. So I was sad when I saw on the socials that Target had decided to “scale it back” after a number of unhinged people freaked out in their stores last year over their Pride merchandise. As in, they were violent, destroyed displays, and harassed employees.
I like to think those Pride drinking glasses I purchased gave JJ the green light for coming out.
This evening, JJ and I were doing some last minute shopping this to prepare for our local Pride Parade, which is tomorrow.
And so we went to Target.
But there was zero Pride stuff.
ZERO.
That kinda hurts and fuck you, Target, for making my kid feel not seen during Pride month.
YOU CAN DO BETTER. You already did, and I loved you for it.
Now, not so much.
