Legislative Shit That's Happening Now

Apologies for not posting these past few days. I got sucked into a Poetry Festival in a state with poor cell reception, in a town with buildings that lacked accessible wifi, and so I was forced to take a brief vacation from the socials.

I’ll keep this brief. The Supreme Court (don’t get me started) is taking on a case that will determine whether states get to ban gender affirming care for minors. Here’s what the very eloquent Erin Reed has to say about it. In short, it is a big deal.

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t trust Alito to help me cross the street. And Clarence Thomas is beyond. So this feels very, very delicate to me.

In the words of Reed:

“The decision to take up the case indicates that the fight for transgender rights will be reaching a pivotal moment soon. The case is expected to be argued in the fall, around the same time as the United States presidential elections, where transgender rights issues continue to emerge. Both the election and whatever decision the Supreme Court reaches could lead to seismic shifts in the landscape around the rights of transgender people in the United States.”

Yikes.
