Gender Defiant is a weekly essay newsletter by writers raising trans children. Founded by teacher and poet Tina Carson (she/her), a cis mother of a nonbinary teen, in 2024, it is co-produced by writer and healthcare worker Noa Rabinow (she/they), cis mom of a trans teen, and features essays by Tina, Noa, and rotating guest writers.

Each Gender Defiant essay springs from a deeply personal perspective, but we are all united in defying enforced gender definitions through openness and love.

We write for fellow parents of any gender raising gender expansive kids—but also for people who just want to learn more about being trans and engage less with anti-trans panic.
